Edgar Gomez is a queer NicaRican writer born and raised in Florida, currently serving as Affiliate Faculty in the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Antioch University Los Angeles. His work spans memoir, personal essays, and cultural criticism, exploring themes of Latinx identity, queer experience, and class struggle.
His research interests focus on Creative Writing, particularly memoir and nonfiction forms, Latinx Studies examining NicaRican identity within the American context, and Queer Studies through the lens of working-class LGBTQ+ experiences. His writing often intersects these fields to critique the American Dream narrative while celebrating community resilience.
Gomez's publications reveal a consistent focus on personal narrative as social commentary, with particular attention to Florida's cultural landscape, queer Latinx identity formation, and the intersections of poverty and pride.
