Ed Wilson serves as Professor of Health Economics and Health Policy at the University of Exeter. He directs the Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG), one of 11 UK research units providing evidence to NICE on drug evaluations, and leads the UK Hub for One Health Systems ("The Net Zero Hub") focused on sustainable health pathways. Additionally, he co-leads sustainability for the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Sustainable Innovation.
His academic foundation includes economics and health economics training at the University of York, followed by a PhD in Health Economics from the University of East Anglia. Professional experience spans the Universities of York, Cambridge, and East Anglia, alongside industry roles.
Wilson pioneers methodologies integrating environmental costs into health economic evaluations, with expertise in value of information analysis for research prioritization. His work spans diverse disease areas including diabetes, stroke, dementia, cancer, obesity, and rare conditions through decision analytic modeling and economic evaluation alongside clinical trials.
He leads major collaborative initiatives including PenTAG and The Net Zero Hub, driving partnerships with clinicians, policymakers, and industry to advance clinically effective, cost-efficient, and environmentally sustainable healthcare solutions.
