Eamonn Wall is the Smurfit-Stone Corporation Professor of Irish Studies and Professor of English at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). He holds joint appointments in International Studies and Programs and the Department of English. His roles include directing UMSL’s Summer Study Abroad Program in Galway, Ireland, and curating the 'Irish Lectures and Concerts Series.' He has authored eight poetry collections and three prose works, including Writing the Irish West: Ecologies and Traditions (2011) and From the Sin-e Café to the Black Hills (2000).
Wall’s educational background includes a PhD in English from the City University of New York Graduate Center, a BA and Diploma in Education from University College Dublin, and an MA in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His research focuses on contemporary Irish-American and Irish/Scottish literature, poetry, and cultural studies. He has received notable awards such as the Michael J. Durkan Prize (2000) and the Charles Heimbold Chair in Irish Studies (2014).
His literary contributions span poetry collections like Junction City: New and Selected Poems (2015) and critical essays published in journals like The Irish Times and New Hibernia Review. Wall’s work bridges Irish and American cultural landscapes, exploring themes of identity, memory, and transnational connections.
