Douglas M. Strong is the Paul T. Walls Professor of Wesleyan Studies and Professor of the History of Christianity at Seattle Pacific University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Theology and has been affiliated with SPU since 2007. His work focuses on American religious history, particularly 19th-century revivalism, social reform, and the Wesleyan/Holiness movement.
Dr. Strong holds a BA from Houghton College (1978), an MDiv (1981), and a PhD (1990) from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is a past president of the Wesleyan Theological Society and actively collaborates with international theological institutions, including the Russian Methodist Church and schools in Korea.

Dr. Strong co-authored Workshop of the Holy Spirit (2022), which reimagines theological education as a formative, Spirit-led process.
