Dr. Douglas Morck is a Professor at the University of Calgary with joint appointments in the Faculty of Science (Biological Sciences) and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his DVM from the University of Saskatchewan (1987) and PhD from UCalgary (1991). His research program focuses on bacterial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, and biofilm-related infections affecting both humans and animals.
Current investigations examine: 1) Pathogenic mechanisms in infectious diseases, 2) Biofilm formation on medical devices, and 3) Novel approaches to antibiotic therapy. His laboratory employs biochemical, molecular biological, and proteomic techniques to study host-pathogen interactions.
Honors include the NSERC Synergy Award (2007), CALAS Veterinarian of the Year (2011), and recognition from the Canadian Council on Animal Care (2010) for contributions to humane animal use in research.
