Dr. Douglas Lockard serves as Dean of the School of Communication and Performing Arts and Professor of Music at East Texas Baptist University. He holds degrees in Trumpet Performance and Music Education, with extensive experience in both academia and professional music performance.

Research and Professional Activities: Dr. Lockard specializes in music pedagogy, trumpet performance, and historical studies of jazz and rock and roll. At ETBU, he teaches private trumpet lessons, music history, jazz history, and music education courses. As an active performer, he collaborates with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra, Longview Symphony Orchestra, and ETBU Faculty Brass Quintet, and has appeared as a soloist with multiple ensembles across the southern United States.
Clinical and Academic Leadership: Prior to joining ETBU, he worked as a public-school band director in Arkansas and Texas and taught at Ouachita Baptist University. He integrates faith into his practice, inspired by Colossians 3:23.
