Dorota Jamroz (born October 20, 1939) is a Polish professor of agricultural sciences specializing in nutritional physiology, poultry nutrition, and animal nutrition. She has been continuously affiliated with the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences since 1961, progressing from Assistant (1961-1967) to Assistant Professor (1967-1976), Associate Professor (1983), and Full Professor (1991). Since 1990, she has served as Head of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science within the Faculty of Animal Science.
Her academic foundation includes a degree from the Faculty of Animal Science at Wrocław University of Agriculture (1961), a PhD (1967) on "Determining Optimal Nutrient Levels in Mixtures for Young Ducks for Fatting," and a habilitation (1975) on "Nitrogenous Compound Transformation in Young Poultry for Fat at Different Feeding Levels."
Professor Jamroz's research centers on animal nutrition with specialized focus on poultry physiology, nutrient metabolism, and feed formulation. Her work bridges fundamental nutritional science with practical agricultural applications, particularly in optimizing feed efficiency for poultry production through studies on nitrogen compound transformation, fatting protocols, and feed additive efficacy. This research has established her as a leading authority in poultry nutrition science across Europe.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards:
- International Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievements
- International H. Baur Prize
- 28 Rector's Awards from Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences
- Minister of Agriculture Award
- Minister of Education Award
- Gold Cross of Merit
- Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta
- Medal of the National Education Commission
Professor Jamroz has supervised 6 doctoral dissertations (including one internationally) and 95 master's theses while maintaining extensive international collaborations. She has held leadership roles in global scientific organizations including the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA), serving on its European Scientific Council since 1987 and as Polish delegate to its World Executive Committee since 1989. Her editorial contributions span multiple international journals including Journal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition (since 1994) and Journal of Applied Animal Research (since 1995).
As long-standing Head of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science, she has directed research activities while maintaining active membership in the Scientific Council of the Institute of Animal Physiology and Nutrition of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 1999. Her department serves as a central hub for poultry nutrition research in Poland with strong international linkages.
