Doris Posch is an Associate Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at Karlstad University (SE) and holds dual roles as Deputy Head and Senior Scientist at the Inter-University Organization Arts & Knowledges at Paris Lodron University Salzburg and Mozarteum University Salzburg (AT). She is a visiting lecturer at multiple institutions including the University of Vienna and the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Doris is Co-Founder of the curatorial collective CineCollective and co-directed the International Film Festival Kaleidoskop in Vienna from 2019–2023. Her research focuses on decolonial perspectives, Caribbean cultural theory, and transdisciplinary practices in film and visual arts.
Education: PhD in Theatre, Film and Media Studies from the University of Vienna (2021), studies at Université de Montréal and Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Critical Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She has held fellowships at NYU, Concordia University, and the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Research interests include global film aesthetics, curatorial studies, and the intersection of art, politics, and decolonization. Recent lectures and workshops have explored topics like collective curatorial practices, queer-feminist art collectives, and postcolonial film historiography.
Scientific Awards: Austrian Academy of Sciences Fellowship (dates unspecified), Marietta Blau Fellowship (2015–2019).
Teaching spans courses on decolonial film theory, African and Caribbean cinemas, and transcultural art practices across institutions like University of Vienna and University of Art and Design Linz.
