Donnette Noble

Dr. Donnette Noble is a Professor and the Voss Distinguished Professor of Leadership at Fort Hays State University (FHSU), located in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences within the School of Criminal Justice, Leadership, and Sociology. She holds tenure and serves as Director of Civic Learning and Engagement. Previously, she was faculty at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Dr. Noble chairs FHSU’s Experiential Learning Committee and co-chairs Goal 5 of the university’s strategic plan (Community and Global Engagement). She is affiliated with Creighton University’s Interdisciplinary Leadership Ed.D. program and previously served as President of the Association of Leadership Educators (2016-17).

Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Human Science with a Leadership specialization (University of Nebraska-Lincoln), an MA in Management (Doane University), and a BA in Public Administration and Organizational Communication (Doane University). Her research focuses on social justice, civic engagement, and leadership, including studies on domestic violence’s workplace impact and Black leadership through Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. She contributes to academic governance as an Editorial Advisory Board member for the Journal of Leadership Education and the National Advisory Committee for Carnegie Foundation’s Leadership for Public Purpose initiative.

Awarded the Voss Distinguished Professor title in 2019, her work emphasizes experiential learning and community engagement. She actively advises and mentors students through courses such as LDRS 300, 310, 640, and 670. Outside academia, she prioritizes family, fitness, and mindfulness, advocating for gratitude, kindness, and joy.
