Donna W. Stokes

Donna W. Stokes is a Professor and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Student Success at the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Houston. Her roles include teaching Classical Mechanics (Phys 3309) in Spring 2023 and advising student organizations like the Society of Physics Students (SPS) and Astronomy Society at University of Houston (ASUH).

Research Interests

• Scientific: Structural and optical properties of semiconductor materials for infrared detectors and lasers, utilizing FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.
• Educational: Preparation of Science and Math teachers for secondary education, physics education research focused on improving student success through inquiry-based teaching and learning strategies.
