About
Dr. Dong Gao is an Associate Research Scientist in Environmental Health Sciences at Yale School of Public Health. She holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2019) and joined Yale in 2020 under Dr. Krystal Pollitt's lab. Her research focuses on air quality monitoring, particulate matter (PM2.5) oxidative potential, and health impacts of air pollutants.
Education: BS in Environmental Engineering (Sun Yat-sen University, 2014), MS in Computational Science & Engineering (Georgia Tech, 2019), PhD in Environmental Engineering (Georgia Tech, 2019).
Research Interests:
- Air quality modeling and monitoring
- Oxidative potential of PM2.5
- Exposure assessment for respiratory pathogens (e.g., SARS-CoV-2)
- Environmental health disparities
Recent Work: Published studies on PM2.5 oxidative potential variations in Colombian cities (2025), wearable passive samplers for chemical exposure (2023), and SARS-CoV-2 air sampling methods (2022). Collaborates with global teams on environmental health projects.
