Donald E. Letendre

Donald E. Letendre serves as Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, where he previously held the deanship. He also served as former Chairman of the Board at the University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals (UIP), an FDA-registered drug manufacturing enterprise, and held leadership roles at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

His educational background includes a Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) and clinical residency from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Letendre's career centers on Pharmacy Practice, Medication Safety, and Health Services Research, with significant contributions to Clinical Pharmacy standards and Pharmacy Education. He pioneered national frameworks for safe medication distribution systems and direct patient care services across hundreds of North American health systems, while globally shaping pharmacy residency and technician training curricula.

His distinguished honors include:
