Mr. Don Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and International Business at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). With over 50 years as a Certified Public Accountant in Texas, he combines academic instruction with extensive professional experience in tax consulting and business leadership roles. Holmes teaches foundational and advanced courses including Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Advanced Accounting, and Ethical Accounting Practices.
- Education: ABD in Accounting and Industrial Psychology from University of Houston, MBA from University of Dallas, and BBA in Economics from Southern Methodist University
His research interests focus on accounting education and ethical practices in financial reporting. Holmes has engaged in numerous faculty development activities related to corporate governance, cybersecurity standards, and business valuation. He actively contributes to curriculum development and served as Committee Chair for Faculty Funded Leave.
Professional service highlights include mentoring student organizations like the National Association of Black Accountants, participating in recruiting events at Houston Community College, and serving on the Departmental Search Committee.
