Don Bailey

Don Bailey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Music and Theatre at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, where he has been a faculty member since 1985. He specializes in jazz studies, teaching core music theory courses, orchestration, and composition, while directing the award-winning Jazz Catz vocal ensemble and jazz lab ensemble.

• Educated at Iowa Wesleyan College (Bachelor of Music Education) and University of Northern Iowa (Master of Arts in Music)
• Developed Arkansas' first comprehensive summer jazz band camp and a national-unique jazz improv for strings camp
• Active clinician/adjudicator in Arkansas/Oklahoma with performance experience in New York and New Jersey
• Performs statewide with his combo and directs the Kool Cats Jazz Quartet, an outreach of the Fort Smith Symphony
