Dominik Steinhilber is an academic staff member and doctoral student at the Chair of American Literary and Cultural Studies (Anglistik III) at the University of Mannheim. Previously, he worked at the University of Stuttgart, where he earned his Staatsexamen in English and German in 2016. His current research focuses on the American Epic Novel in the Ulyssean Tradition.
Research interests include contemporary literature (with emphasis on David Foster Wallace), modernist/postmodernist fiction, digital humanities, and transatlantic intertextuality. He has taught courses on modernism and colonialism, literary studies fundamentals, American short stories, and the evolution of literary movements from modernism to contemporary works.
His 2017 publication in Critique: Studies in Contemporary Fiction explores intertextual links between Heinrich von Kleist’s theories and David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest.
