Dominic Moreau is an Associate Professor in Late Antiquity at the University of Lille, Faculty of Humanities, History Department. He serves as Vice-Dean of Student Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities and is a permanent member of UMR 8164-HALMA (Univ. Lille, CNRS, MC).
Moreau's research focuses on Late Antiquity, with particular expertise in history, archaeology, prosopography, Ancient Christianity, and the regions of Italy, Balkans, and Lower Danube. He coordinates significant research initiatives including the DANUBIUS project (ANR/I-SITE ULNE/University of Lille Foundation) and the HAEMUS international research network.
His publication record demonstrates a strong focus on early Christian history, particularly episcopal figures in the Thracian diocese, basilica archaeology in Sirmium, and frontier studies along the Lower Danube. Recent work shows increasing integration of digital humanities approaches with traditional historical and archaeological methods.
Moreau has established international research collaborations, particularly focused on sites like Zaldapa in Bulgaria, and has contributed significantly to understanding the Christianization of the Danube region during Late Antiquity through both textual and archaeological evidence.
His academic trajectory includes positions at University of Tours (2013-2014) and University of Strasbourg (2012-2013) before joining University of Lille in 2014. His doctoral work centered on History of Christianity and Late Antiquity at Sorbonne University.
