Dipesh Chakrabarty is the Lawrence A. Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of History and South Asian Languages and Civilizations. He serves as Faculty Director of the University of Chicago Center in Delhi and is a faculty fellow at the Chicago Center for Contemporary Theory.
- Education: Ph.D. (History) from Australian National University, MBA-equivalent diploma from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and BSc (Physics) from Presidency College, University of Calcutta.
His research bridges postcolonial theory, subaltern studies, and climate change. Recent work focuses on the Anthropocene and its implications for historical methodology. Articles demonstrate interdisciplinary engagement with environmental humanities, political theory, and global history teleologies.
