Dina M. Asfaha is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Anthropology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her work bridges African studies, medical anthropology, and science and technology studies (STS), focusing on intersections of sovereignty, medicine, and governance in Africa and the diaspora.

Dina’s scholarship examines the historical and contemporary relationships between medicine, statecraft, and sovereignty, particularly in Eritrea. Her dissertation analyzes the medical infrastructure that supported Eritrea’s liberation struggle (1961–1991), offering critical insights into post-colonial governance and global health dynamics in the Horn of Africa.
