Magnus Treiber is Professor in Social and Cultural Anthropology at LMU Munich, specializing in migration, urban anthropology, and refugee studies with regional focus on the Horn of Africa. Directs research on Eritrean/Ethiopian migration, refugee camp governance, and post-conflict societies.
Publications examine refugee experiences (2025), anti-refugee mechanisms (2022), and existential dimensions of migration. Ethnographic fieldwork in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, Israel, and Europe documents migration trajectories and camp environments.
