Dimitri Van Den Meerssche

Dimitri Van Den Meerssche is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Fellow of the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) at Queen Mary University of London. He specializes in the intersection of digital technologies, global security governance, and international law. His research explores algorithmic governance, border control, and the inequalities arising from technological systems. He is affiliated with the School of Law and contributes to interdisciplinary projects on critical legal theory and methodological innovation.

His monograph The World Bank’s Lawyers analyzes institutional legal practices, while his current projects focus on algorithmic rule and global data governance.

He co-edits a forthcoming Cambridge University Press volume on Global Governance by Data and chairs the ESIL Interest Group on International Law and Technology. His research bridges critical security studies, feminist technoscience, and infrastructure theory, emphasizing methodological innovation in legal scholarship.
