Didier Bigo

Didier Bigo is a Research Professor in Sociology, Social Policy, and Criminology at the University of Liverpool’s School of Law and Social Justice. He holds an Emeritus Professorship at Sciences Po Paris. His research focuses on security studies, digital surveillance, human rights, and transnational governance. He directs the Centre d'Études sur les Conflits, la Liberté, la Sécurité (CECLS) and co-edits journals like Cultures et Conflits and Political Anthropological Research on International Social Sciences (PARISS). Key contributions include critiques of counterterrorism policies, data politics, and intelligence oversight. He has received prestigious awards, including the IPS Distinguished Scholar award (2022) and an honorary doctorate from UCLouvain (2024).

Research highlights include analyses of predictive policing, algorithmic governance, and transnational intelligence networks.
