Dr Dianne Kirby is a Research Fellow at the Department of History, Trinity College Dublin, and a member of the Las Casas Institute. Her research focuses on the religious dimension of the Cold War, ethical dilemmas faced by religious leaders, and the role of Women Religious in the Northern Ireland conflict. Kirby initiated the oral history project 'The Cold War Challenge to the Christian Churches' and an ongoing project documenting religious women's contributions to peacebuilding in Northern Ireland, which has been expanded in collaboration with Drs Maria Power and Briege Rafferty.
She serves as coordinating editor for Twentieth Century Communism, reviews editor for Socialist History, and is active in the Oral History Network Ireland. Kirbys volunteer work includes promoting inclusivity in Irish sports through Sport Ireland policies and supporting female asylum seekers and refugees by enhancing their English language skills and facilitating oral history projects to document their experiences.
