Diane Smith

Diane Smith is a Lecturer in the Communication, Film and Media Studies Department at the University of New Haven, where she coordinates the Principles of Communication program. A veteran Emmy award-winning journalist with over 25 years of experience in Connecticut media, she anchors and produces public affairs specials at CTN (Connecticut C-SPAN), hosts CPTV town hall meetings, and co-authored the New York Times bestseller Obsessed: America’s Food Addiction and My Own with Mika Brzezinski.

• B.A. in Communications and Journalism from Binghamton University

Her research and professional work focus on real-world communication skills, broadcast journalism, and community engagement. She founded Diane Smith Media, producing award-winning documentaries for nonprofits and providing media training to corporations like Subway and Tiffany & Co.
