Chelsea Rowe

Chelsea Rowe is a Practitioner in Residence and Foundations Coordinator in the Art & Design Department of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Haven, where she teaches foundational art courses and co-developed the electro-textiles curriculum.

Her academic credentials include:

Rowe's artistic research explores immersive sensory environments through fiber-based installations, electro-textile innovation, and multimedia performance. Her work integrates painting, video, and costume within live events featuring projection mapping and sculptural elements, reflecting a practice deeply rooted in material experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Exhibitions of her immersive works span Connecticut, Rhode Island, Florida, Maryland, Kentucky, Colorado, and Puerto Rico.

As Foundations Coordinator, Rowe mentors students in core artistic techniques while facilitating connections to emerging technologies through her 'Thread and Circuits' course. Her professional residencies at Vermont Studio Center and Elsewhere Studios directly inform her pedagogical approach, emphasizing experiential learning and cross-medium exploration.

Rowe actively contributes to New Haven's creative ecosystem through a sound/video/installation collaborative that produces events merging live musical performance with digital projection and spatial design, demonstrating her commitment to community-engaged artistry.
