Diane Riskedahl is Distinguished Lecturer in Anthropology at CUNY Graduate Center, specializing in linguistic anthropology and Middle Eastern studies. Her research examines language practices in political discourse, protest movements, and displacement narratives, with long-term fieldwork in Lebanon. Current ethnographic work investigates refugee sponsorship in Toronto.
Teaches courses on language ideologies, media publics, migration, and Middle Eastern politics. Publications analyze semiotic landscapes of protest, graphic identities in urban Lebanon, and political advertising rhetorics.
