Dr. Diandra J. Prescod is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of School Counseling at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on career development interventions for STEM undergraduate students and women/students of color in higher education. She currently serves as President of the Connecticut Career Counseling and Development Association and has held leadership roles in organizations such as the European Branch of the American Counseling Association (EBACA) and the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Dr. Prescod holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Central Florida, an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University.
Her work emphasizes multicultural and social justice counseling competencies, particularly for international students and underrepresented groups. Notable contributions include articles on STEM retention strategies, career concerns during the pandemic, and the application of bioecological systems theory. Dr. Prescod has been recognized with awards such as the NCDA Merit Award (2024) and the Career Development Quarterly Article of the Year (2020).
Dr. Prescod actively promotes self-care initiatives for graduate students and has delivered keynotes on decolonizing career theory and bridging STEM education with career development. She teaches courses like EPSY 5320 (Critical Issues in Counseling) and EPSY 5310 (Facilitating Career Development), integrating research with practical career guidance strategies.
