Derek Teaney is a Professor of Physics at Stony Brook University, where he has been affiliated with the Department of Physics & Astronomy since 2007. He previously held a RIKEN fellowship at Stony Brook and earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the university. He received his B.S. from Yale. His research focuses on the statistical and kinetic properties of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) at high temperatures and densities, with applications to ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions as a laboratory for studying QCD.
