Denise Rooney

Professor Denise Rooney serves as Head of the Department of Chemistry and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Maynooth University, currently on sabbatical. She has been a prominent figure at the university since 1994, contributing significantly to both academic leadership and research initiatives. Her administrative roles include serving as Project Lead for the Virtual Laboratories in Higher Education HCI Pillar 3 project.

She has made significant contributions to the development of novel phenanthroline-based ligands and their metal complexes for antibacterial applications, as well as creating innovative hydrogel systems for controlled release of agricultural inhibitors.
