Dr. Deborah Wardle is an Adjunct Industry Fellow at RMIT University's School of Media and Communication. Her research focuses on creative writing and climate literature, particularly exploring groundwater's cultural and environmental significance. She has authored books such as *Subterranean Imaginaries and Groundwater Narratives* (2023) and published in journals including *Meanjin*, *Overland*, and *Animal Studies Journal*. Wardle teaches creative writing and environmental literature at RMIT and the University of Melbourne, emphasizing student engagement and narrative innovation. She is currently working on a climate fiction novel addressing groundwater sustainability in rural Australia.
Her research interests bridge creative writing methodologies with environmental studies, including nonhuman imaginaries, ecocriticism, and narrative approaches to environmental challenges. Wardle lives on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, where she is actively involved in grassland restoration efforts.
