About
Dr. Deborah Chong is a Lecturer at St George’s, University of London, specializing in Infection and Immunity. She holds a PhD from Imperial College London and completed post-doctoral research at Imperial College and UCL. Her research investigates immune-mediated fibrosis mechanisms, focusing on neutrophil-driven pulmonary fibrosis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogenesis.
Her work combines in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo approaches to examine neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and LRG-1 mediators in fibrotic processes. Recent studies analyze interactions between neutrophils and fibroblasts to identify novel therapeutic targets.
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on pulmonary immunopathology, tuberculosis mechanisms, and neutrophil biology. Collaborative studies involve Prof. Jonathan Friedland (SGUL), Prof. Joanna Porter (UCL), and Prof. Chris Scotton (Exeter).
