Debashish Dev

Dr. Debashish Dev is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland's Gas & Energy Transition Research Centre, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology. He also holds an affiliation with the Centre for Communication and Social Change in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. His research focuses on energy transitions, social risk assessment, community engagement strategies, and participatory approaches in development contexts.

Dr. Dev holds a PhD in Climate and Development from UQ, along with a Master's in Agricultural Extension and a Bachelor's (Honours) in Agricultural Science from Bangladesh Agricultural University. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a Certified Carbon Literate Professional.

His work bridges development sociology, agricultural extension, and communication studies. Key research interests include technology-society interactions, transdisciplinary governance of transitions, and communication frameworks for inclusive decision-making. He designs courses on research methods, data and society, and communication for social change, including UQ offerings like COMU2030 and COMU7102.

Notable publications analyze gender representation in climate adaptation planning, discourses on gender in climate projects, and socio-economic factors influencing agricultural practices in Bangladesh. His work emphasizes participatory approaches and policy evaluation in energy and agricultural sectors.
