Deb Margolin is a Professor in the Practice in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies at Yale University. She is a playwright, actor, and founding member of Split Britches Theater Company. Her work spans numerous plays, including Imagining Madoff (Helen Hayes nominee) and solo performances like 8 STOPS exploring motherhood and mortality. She has held residencies at Tulane, NYU, USC, and others. Awards include the OBIE Award, Helen Merrill Distinguished Playwright Award, and the Richard H. Broadhead Prize for teaching excellence.
Her research interests focus on experimental theater, solo performance, gender dynamics in performance, and narrative innovation. Recent works like This is Not a Time of Peace (2024) reflect her engagement with contemporary societal anxieties. Margolin’s publications include Of All The Nerve: Deb Margolin SOLO and the four-part drama Time Is the Mercy of Eternity.
