Dr. Dean P. Vesperman is an Assistant Professor of Education in the History Department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, specializing in secondary social studies methods. He holds a BS in History and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, an MEE in Brain-Based Teaching and Learning from Cardinal Stritch University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana University.
His research focuses on citizenship education, Cultural-Historical Activity Theory, and education policy. He previously taught junior high and high school social studies for 11 years and has published extensively on pedagogical methods.
Dr. Vesperman serves as President-ex officio of SSEC, chairs the Higher Education Committee at WCSS, and leads the Assignments Committee at NCSS.
