Dean Bryant

Dean Bryant is a Lecturer in Computational Cancer Biology at the University of Southampton. He holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research focuses on computational approaches to understanding cancer biology, particularly in hematological malignancies such as leukemia and lymphoma. He is affiliated with the Institute for Life Sciences and the Bioinformatics and Genomics research groups. Current research projects include the Early Cancer Research Initiative Network (ECRIN-M3) funded by Cancer Research UK and studies on SDH-deficient gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Dean supervises PhD students in Cancer Sciences and Biomedicine, and actively contributes to research on tumor immunoglobulin sequencing, genomic landscapes, and metabolic alterations in cancer.

His academic background includes roles in bioinformatics and cancer genomics, with a strong emphasis on integrating computational methods with experimental biology. Dean collaborates with institutions such as Wessex Medical Research and maintains active research partnerships within Southampton’s academic community.
