About
Davide Elmo is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Applied Science, University of British Columbia. He joined the NBK Institute of Mining Engineering in 2021, where he teaches and conducts research in engineering geology and rock engineering.
- University of Portsmouth - B.Eng (Hons) in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics
- University of Exeter - PhD in Geomechanics
- Simon Fraser University - Postdoctoral Fellow under Prof. Stead
Elmo's research focuses on advanced numerical modeling of rock engineering problems, mining methods, and discrete fracture network models. Recently, he has explored applications of information theory, machine learning, and engineering philosophy to rock engineering, particularly examining cognitive biases in inductive engineering design. His work bridges computational techniques with practical challenges in geological systems.
