About
David Wang is a Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the Department of Math and Computer Science at Mercy College. He holds a leadership role in the School of Liberal Arts, focusing on student-centric education and supporting economically disadvantaged students. A first-generation immigrant scholar, he emphasizes the transformative power of education through his teaching and mentorship.
Dr. Wang has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers and secured over $1 million in NSF STEM and Microsoft grants. He actively contributes to academic governance, serving on the Content Advisory Committee for New York State Teacher Certification, the ACM/IEEE Computer Science Review Committee, and Mercy’s STEM Advisory Board. Currently, he chairs the AP Computer Science (A) National Advisory Board and is a member of NCWIT Academic Alliance.
His career highlights include shaping educational policies, leading institutional strategic planning, and mentoring high-achieving students. Notably, his teaching influenced Mark Zuckerberg during the latter’s high school years.
