David Walsh

David Walsh is Associate Professor and Director of Opera Theatre at the University of Minnesota School of Music. With extensive international opera experience, he has served as Production Stage Manager for the Canadian Opera Company and Scottish Opera, Assistant Artistic Director for Vancouver Opera, and Head of Production for Scottish Opera.

His directing credits span Europe and North America, including productions at Paris Opera, English National Opera, Bad Hersfeld Festival, and the first Wagner opera production in China. Notable collaborations include work with Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Seiji Ozawa, and Sir Simon Rattle. His specialties include opera history, contemporary operatic literature, and production management.
