David Sosa is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin (College of Liberal Arts). He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University. His research interests span Epistemology, Ethics, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy of Language.
Before joining UT Austin, he taught at Dartmouth College and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley. He has served as editor-in-chief of Analytic Philosophy since 2010 and contributes to major projects like the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. His edited volumes include Bad Words (Oxford, 2018) and A Companion to Analytic Philosophy (Blackwell, 2001).
Sosa’s scholarship critically examines foundational issues in ethical theory, metaphysical structures, and the philosophy of language. His work on belief, rigidity in descriptions, and the conditional fallacy showcases interdisciplinary rigor.
