David Scott is a Professorial Fellow-Research at the Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC), University of Southampton, and an Honorary Visiting Professor at the Diabetes Research Centre, University of Leicester. His expertise spans health economics, medical statistics, and health technology assessment (HTA), with over 20 years of experience in methodology development and application for indirect treatment comparisons and early HTA modeling of medical devices and digital technologies (MedTech). He leads SHTAC’s evaluation of NICE submissions and provides early HTA support to academic and industry partners.
David holds an MSc in Medical Statistics (University of Leicester), MA in Mathematics & Economics (University of Aberdeen), and additional certifications in Health Economics and International Business Management. He has co-authored over 60 academic papers, teaches evidence synthesis courses, and collaborates on multidisciplinary projects. His research focuses on decision-analytic modeling, cost-effectiveness evaluation, and value of information analyses to guide healthcare decisions.
Active research projects include wearable textile technologies for joint pain management (funded by the Medical Research Council), assistive technologies for continence care, and multi-cancer diagnostic tests. His work emphasizes bridging research and clinical practice to support evidence-based reimbursement pathways.
