David Pounds

David Pounds serves as Professor of Graphic Arts in the Department of Visual and Media Arts within the College of the Arts at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He joined the institution in 2004 after establishing a significant 23-year teaching and professional career in California.

His educational background includes a comprehensive art education from California State University – Fullerton, where he earned three degrees: MFA in Design, MA in Art, and BA in Art.

Pounds specializes in graphic design and digital illustration with research interests spanning publication design, corporate identity systems, and visual communication strategies. His professional practice bridges academic instruction with real-world application through client projects emphasizing marketing and advertising solutions.

His industry contributions have been recognized through features in prestigious publications including Print Magazine's design annual and the Illustrator WOW Book series. His work has also appeared in Killer Illustrator Tips and Tricks and Illustratorworld online magazine.

Pounds maintains an active professional practice through 'David Pounds Design,' serving major clients such as Disney, Mitsubishi Motors, Mazda Motors, and ICN Pharmaceuticals. His community involvement includes 18 years of children's ministry work at Voyagers Bible Church and Calvary Community Church.

Outside his academic and professional commitments, he enjoys woodworking, sailing, basketball, and family time with his wife Kookie and three children.
