About
Dr. David Picketts is a Professor and Senior Scientist at the University of Ottawa within the Faculty of Medicine, affiliated with the Regenerative Medicine Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). His research focuses on the epigenetic regulation of brain development and disease pathology, particularly through chromatin remodeling proteins.
- Research Interests: X-linked mental retardation, chromatin remodeling, neurodevelopment, biochemistry.
- Contact: dpicketts@ohri.ca, Phone: 613-737-8989, Fax: 613-737-8803
Key Research Themes: Dr. Picketts’ lab investigates how chromatin remodelers like ATRX, SNF2H/SNF2L, and PHF6 impact neurodevelopmental disorders. His work includes:
- ATRX functions in neural development and replication stress
- ISWI proteins (SNF2H/SNF2L) in brain size regulation
- PHF6 mutations in Borjeson-Forssman-Lehmann syndrome
- VGF neuropeptides for neuronal damage repair in stroke and MS models
Publications highlight his expertise in epigenetics, neurodevelopment, and regenerative therapeutics. Collaborative Networks include partnerships with the University of Ottawa and OHRI teams.
