David Munro Lewis is a PhD candidate in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Divinity, affiliated with the Centre for the Study of World Christianity. He holds an MTh (World Christianity, Regent College, 2021) and MA (Theological Studies, Regent College, 2020), alongside a BA (Honours History, University of British Columbia, 2010). His research examines the intersection of Christian theology and ecology through the works of John Chryssavgis, Wangari Maathai, and Tore Johnsen, advocating for a World Christianity approach to ecological crises. Lewis currently serves as a tutor at the University of Edinburgh, teaching undergraduate and masters-level courses on Christian history and theology-ecology intersections.
His academic affiliations include membership in the Yale-Edinburgh Group on World Christianity and the History of Mission, and the American Academy of Religion. He has received notable awards such as the World Christianity Prize and multiple scholarships for academic excellence. Lewis has also held teaching roles in South Africa, Canada, and West Africa, alongside ministerial and community leadership roles.
