David Matthews is Professor of Medieval and Medievalism Studies at University of Manchester, where he leads English Literature programs. His research examines Tudor receptions of medieval texts and Victorian medievalism. Current projects analyze Chaucer editions from Speght to Thynne.
Matthews edited Studies in the Age of Chaucer (2007-2013) and co-directs Manchester Medieval Literature book series. His book Medievalism: A Critical History traces post-medieval cultural appropriations.
