David Lashbrook is a Senior Lecturer in film and media within the Department of Media, Fashion & Communications at the University of East London’s School of Arts and Creative Industries. He leads modules across BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen, BA (Hons) Filmmaking, and Media Foundation courses. Currently pursuing a PhD by Practice in Screenwriting at UEL, his research focuses on scriptwriting practice and representation in film/television.

David’s research spans scriptwriting methodologies, media theory, and critical analysis of representation in visual storytelling. His recent work critiques documentary narratives on gender-related social issues, such as domestic violence portrayal in the Gazza documentary.
As Co-Programme Development and Enhancement Lead, he drives technological and facility upgrades at UEL’s Docklands campus to improve student-industry alignment and course provision.
