Jo McCullock is a Senior Lecturer in Media Production and Digital Film at the University of Sunderland, serving as Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Film Production. She teaches modules such as Formats and Storytelling, Introduction to Screenwriting (short-form television), Scriptwriting (short film), and Screenwriting for TV and Film (adaptation). Her research focuses on scriptwriting, representation, cultural identity, and issue-based storytelling through comedy or comedy drama. She is also part of a writer-led theatre company producing contemporary theatre in non-traditional settings.
