David Gillette

David Gillette is Professor of English at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and co-Director of the Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies program. He earned his PhD in English and Rhetoric from the University of New Mexico (1995), following an MA in Creative Writing (1992) and BA in Broadcasting/Film (1985).

His research bridges technical communication, film studies, and digital design. Publications explore cinematic techniques in technical presentations, new media pedagogy, and metaphorical interfaces in ubiquitous computing. He received the 2010 Cal Poly President's Award for community-engaged projects addressing homelessness through sustainable design.
