David Gamblin

David Gamblin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Organizational Psychology at Birkbeck Business School (University of London), where he serves as Programme Director for the MSc in Management Consultancy and Organizational Change. He teaches courses including Applied Decision Making, Leadership/Management Strategy, and Workplace Health and Wellbeing. Prior to Birkbeck, he held positions at UCL, University of Surrey, and the Academy of Contemporary Music, teaching decision making and cognitive psychology.

His research applies judgment and decision-making (JDM) principles to organizational contexts, with projects in policing, military operations, and performing arts. Key interests include heuristics/biases, metacognition (particularly processing fluency), behavioral economics, and social cognition. His methodological expertise spans behavioral experimentation, facial electromyography, and meta-analysis.

Beyond academia, David has worked as a financial auditor, selection analyst, and management consultant. He serves on Birkbeck's Mitigating Circumstances Committee, School Education Committee, and Departmental Education Committee.

His publications (2020-2022) demonstrate consistent focus on applied decision-making in high-stakes environments. Research domains include evidence-based policing, military decision training, emotional intelligence assessment in law enforcement, risk perception psychology, and public health interventions within criminal justice systems.
