David G. Gutiérrez is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). His research focuses on citizenship, civil rights, comparative immigration, and Mexican American history. He holds a PhD from Stanford University and previously taught at the University of Utah, Stanford, and the California Institute of Technology.
