David Fitzjohn

David Fitzjohn is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art & Design, Cardiff Metropolitan University. He has extensive experience bridging professional artistic practice with academic teaching.

• Abbey Scholar in Painting at British School at Rome (1995-1996)

Fitzjohn worked professionally as a freelance Scenic Artist in theatre and film until 2002, when he left London and increasingly focused on teaching. His research interests center on fine art practice, painting techniques, and scenic art applications, reflecting his dual background in professional theatre design and studio art.

As a Senior Lecturer, he brings practical industry experience to the academic environment, particularly valuable in applied art education contexts.
