David Doyle serves as Director of the University Honors Program and the Dedman College Scholars Program at Southern Methodist University (SMU), while holding an adjunct appointment in the History Department. He has led the University Honors Program since 2003, overseeing ~650 students and coordinating initiatives like the Richter Fellowship and Gartner Lecture Series. His academic work focuses on gender, sexuality, and 19th-century American culture, with recent research exploring global cross-cultural comparisons of gender norms. Doyle earned his Ph.D. in History from CUNY (2004), following an M.A. from NYU (1989) and B.A. from Plymouth State College (1986).
